GRSE bags Rs 491 cr contract from NPOL to build an acoustics research ship

GRSE will complete the project in 36 months from the signing of the contract.

Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) has bagged a Rs 491 crore contract from Naval Physical & Oceanographic Laboratory (NPOL) Gol, Ministry of Defence DRDO, Kochi to develop on acoustics research ship.

An acoustics research ship is a vessel is designed to facilitate low noise and low vibration while carrying out acoustic programmes. It is used for underwater ocean environmental and acoustic experiments. 

“The company has received letters of Intent of Award for Contract for design, development, construction, integration of equipment, testing, certification, commissioning and supply of one acoustic research ship (ARS) from Naval Physical & Oceanographic Laboratory,” GRSE said in a BSE filing.

The project is to be completed within 36 months from the signing of the contract.

In the first week of October GRSE secured two letters of acceptance of the award for contract for the design, build, operation and maintenance of hybrid electric ferries under the WBIWTLSD project of the West Bengal government.

During the month, Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) has also signed an agreement with Carsten Rehder Schiffsmakler and Reederei GmbH & Co. for the construction and delivery of fifth multipurpose vessel (MPV) of 7,500 DWT. This contract is in line with the ‘Option Agreement’ signed between both the parties, for procurement of four additional MPVs from GRSE. The shipyard will build a total of eight vessels at an order value of USD 108 million.
