The Saudi Red Sea Authority (SRSA), the government body overseeing coastal tourism development in the region, has issued the first three licenses to operators of tourist marinas, marking a significant step towards the growth of the sector.
These licenses, granted to Al-Ahlam Marine in Jeddah and Jazan, and Red Sea Marina in Jeddah, align with SRSA’s mandate under Saudi Vision 2030 to foster a thriving coastal tourism industry.
The issuance of licenses follows a series of proactive measures by SRSA. They conducted field visits to tourist marinas in Jeddah, Jazan, Al Laith, and Yanbu. This initiative aimed to provide technical, administrative, and consultative support to marina operators. Additionally, the visits ensured compliance with international standards and assessed the readiness of facilities to accommodate local and international tourists.
These efforts also led to “substantial improvements” at the marinas, according to SRSA. These improvements, implemented by the private sector as a key partner in the development of coastal tourism, align with the standards and requirements set by the authority.
SRSA views these new licenses as a crucial step in developing coastal tourism within the Kingdom. By providing a safe and suitable environment for both local and international visitors, SRSA aims to position the Red Sea as a leading global tourist destination.
These licenses pave the way for the development of navigational and marine tourism activities, further enriching the tourism experience in the region.
