PSA International (PSA), through its subsidiary PSA Baltics NV, has signed an agreement to acquire an 85 per cent majority stake in Loconi International SA (Loconi), one of Poland’s leading intermodal operators, from the publicly traded Polish freight forwarder ATC Cargo S.A.

With this strategic move, PSA will be able to develop new rail products to support the growth of our European container hubs, thereby offering our customers additional options besides road transportation, the company said in a statement.

“With this acquisition, we will also enhance existing hinterland connections from Baltic Hub Terminal in GdaÅ„sk, Poland and extend the port’s reach into new markets in Central and Eastern Europe. The transaction is still subject to approval from the relevant authorities,” it said.

Commenting on the development, Vincent Ng, Regional CEO Europe & Mediterranean and Middle East South Asia said, “As we welcome Loconi into the PSA family, we are excited about the potential for positive impact this acquisition will bring to our joint operations as well as the wider logistics industry in Poland, Eastern and Central Europe.”

He further stated that Loconi will play an important part in its node-to-network strategy in going beyond terminal services and growing the company’s role as a port ecosystem player, through the development of port-adjacent services, such as intermodal connectivity and digitalisation.

“This move underscores our commitment to innovation and superior customer service, paving the way for a more interconnected and efficient port and supply chain network in the region,” Vincent added.
