State-run Rail Vikas Nigam (RVNL), a key player in the infrastructure development sector in India, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with United Construction, Israel to foster cooperation between the two companies to secure and execute various infrastructure projects in Israel.
The areas of collaboration outlined in the MoU include a wide range of sectors such as railways, mass rapid transit systems (MRTS), tunnels, roads (highways and expressways), bridges, building works, airports, ports, irrigation, power transmission and distribution, as well as renewable energy projects in the solar and wind sectors.
Rail Vikas Nigam, established in 2003, operates extensively across India, spearheading numerous infrastructure projects critical to the nation’s development. The company is involved in the construction of new railway lines, doubling existing lines, gauge conversion, electrification, and the development of workshops and manufacturing units. Their projects are pivotal in enhancing the rail network’s capacity and efficiency, thereby contributing significantly to India’s transportation sector.
In recent developments, the Israeli government has announced ambitious targets for infrastructure development, aiming to modernize and expand its transport and energy sectors under its national multi-year infrastructure development plan, “Infrastructure for Growth 2023,” which encompasses 228 projects with a total cost of NIS 433 billion.
This plan includes major infrastructure projects, each costing over NIS 100 million, that are either currently underway or set to begin between 2023 and 2027, with confirmed budgetary support.
The collaboration between RVNL and United Construction is expected to leverage the strengths and expertise of both companies, facilitating the execution of these ambitious projects. This partnership is anticipated to play a crucial role in achieving the infrastructure development goals set by the Israeli government, fostering economic growth and technological advancement in the region.
